Rick Yancey es autor de trece novelas y una memoria. Sus libros han sido publicados en más de veinte idiomas y han ganado numerosos premios alrededor del mundo. Su novela para jóvenes, The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp, fue llamada el «Best Book of the Year» por el Publishers Weekly y fue nominada por la Carnegie Medal.
En 2010, Rick recibió el Michael L. Printz Honor por The Monstrumologist. La secuela, The Curse of the Wendigo, fue finalista para Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Su última novela, La Quinta Ola, el primer libro de una trilogía de ciencia ficción épica, hizo su estreno mundial en 2013, y ya a sido llevada a la pantalla grande por GK Films y Sony Pictures.
